Church of Saint-Ennemond

in Saint-Chamond
  • Pillaged, burned down and rebuilt several times, it remains the oldest church in the town. Its origins date back to the 8th century.

  • The church gets its name from Saint Ennemond, the bishop of Lyon, a charitable, modest and gentle character; he is known for making children walk.
His statue stands in the alcove in the entrance porch; he is the patron saint of the church and the hill.
The church keeps beautiful wall paintings.
