It has stood proudly on Place Jean Jaurès since 1870. It's had more facelifts that it can remember and my, has it seen some people pass through. Musicians, dancers, lovers and daydreamers in their thousands have trodden its floor. Originally designed to be oak, in the end Mazaret built it in metal. The cartouches around the top contain the names of ten famous musicians: Ravel, Bizet, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Massenet, Gounod, Fauré, Berlioz, Lalo and Chabrier. And today it continues to enliven the days and evenings of Saint-Étienne with the numerous events it hosts. You'll have guessed by now - yes, it's the bandstand on Place Jean Jaurès that we're talking about.
