The Gimel peat bog

in Saint-Régis-du-Coin
  • At the springs of the Dunerette, at an altitude of 1,200 metres, the ground became waterlogged some 8,000 years ago.
A fragile wetland where everything awakens in June: dragonflies flutter about and the linaigrettes wave their white pompons in the wind.

  • In the middle of the peat bog, you will see strange installations; they are measuring devices intended to better understand this environment, its functioning, its history and its future.

Departure: Car park of the peat bog. At Saint-Régis-du-Coin, take the direction of Le Tracol by the D28, at La Rouchouze turn left, direction "Tourbière de Gimel".
    Duration: 1h for 1km
    no difference in altitude
