The Matagrin Tower: a 360° panorama!

Matagrin Tower

Throughout the seasons. When the green of the larch forests surrounds Mont Boussuivre, under the colored lights of autumn, frosted or snowed in winter, the Matagrin Tower is an eternal surprise.

A 360° panorama, the highest point of the Monts du Lyonnais.

A 30-minute walk through the woods will suffice to reach the imposing tower. The Matagrin Tower is located in Violay, a charming village in the middle of the mountains, labeled “Village Sport Nature” by the Loire department. Once arrived on the spot, you just have to climb the 65 steps of its famous spiral staircase to reach the top! Work has been done to give it back its “hat” and an orientation table invites you to spot our territories: the Roannais, the Pilat, the Forez but also the Beaujolais, the Alps, the Bugey, the plain of Lyon. You can see up to 14 departments on a clear day. Fabulous isn’t it?

For foodies and sports enthusiasts

Extend your escapade, by making a stop at the store that offers delicious local products. There are also educational tours and even the possibility to approach huskies and practice cani-rando. In Violay, on your way back down, don’t hesitate to go to the acrobranche park to have a thrill.
