Champdieu: a rich and varied heritage

Champdieu

From its medieval origins, Champdieu draws all its character. Between mountains and plains, in the heart of Forez, 5 km from Montbrison, Champdieu offers a rich and varied heritage testifying to more than a thousand years of history. Its jewel, the Benedictine priory, has kept its cloister and its Romanesque church on its crypt.

Monastery complex

The priory of Champdieu represents a monastic complex built from the 11th century. Rich in sculpted capitals, the church is distinguished by its semi-buried crypt from the 11th century, while the refectory still preserves a 15th century fresco representing the Last Supper.
