Ambierle

The commune of Ambierle owes its fame to its Benedictine abbey founded in the early Middle Ages. It was absorbed by the Cluny order in the 10th century and then reduced to a priory after 1101.

An atypical church

The flamboyant gothic style church has stained glass windows from the 15th century and houses the Passion altarpiece, a Flemish masterpiece from 1466. New: after the restoration of the cloister courtyard, access to the heart of the priory is possible from the church or from the Maison de Pays.
